Talk and Play
When you think of novelty acts, you probably assume that each artist concentrates on one specialty. Not Robbins. This philosophically inclined, verbally playful stuntman has many talents at his beck and call. (He swallows swords! He eats glass! He hammers a four-inch nail into his nose!) But elevating this act above the weird and wacky, Robbins also accompanies each stunt with a witty patter that keeps you intellectually engaged throughout.

Gasp and Gawk
That said, the shock value is not to be underestimated. Watch him inflate--and then pop--a hot water bottle as if it were a

children's balloon and your mind will be boggled indeed. Essentially, the perplexing nature of Robbins' undertakings is the central characteristic of their appeal. The quintessential showman wants to make you think long and hard, long after he's done the unthinkable, which makes this lowbrow entertainment of the highest order.
